Dream11, fantasy gaming platform has acquired the sponsorship deal of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Vivo, a Chinese smartphone manufacturer suspended their contract for this year.

Dream11 offers higher than others companies like Tata Sons, Unacademy and Byju’s to won the title sponsorship deal for the cash-rich league. Dream11, sponsorship amount is Rs 222 crore for the sponsorship rights, IPL chairman Brijesh Patel said. Byju’s had offer Rs 125 crore, Unacademy had offer Rs 210 crore and Tata Sons Rs 180 crore .
Vivo and BCCI postponed their partnership for one year due to ongoing India-China border dispute. BCCI were receiving Rs 440 crore per year for IPL sponsorship under the deal with Vivo.
Sourav Ganguly president of BCCI had said after the suspension of sponsorship contract with Vivo, that it was not a financial crisis.
The IPL was originally scheduled to begin on March 29, but was postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The tournament will now get underway on September 19 to November 10. But due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in India, this season of the IPL will be played in the United Arab Emirates.
